Johannes Thumfart (PhD) is a Fellow in the Research Group on Law, Science, Technology and Society (LSTS) at Vrije Universiteit Brussel. Within IMPACT, he is conducting a project on internet shutdowns. He was conducting a research project about digital sovereignty at VUB from 2020 to 2022, supported by Gerda Henkel Stiftung. After a number of international research and teaching positions in France, México, and the US, he is currently teaching ethics of international security management at the Berlin School of Economics and Law. He is a trained philosopher and historian and holds a PhD in the intellectual history of international law from Humboldt Universität Berlin.
