Chukwuebuka Eze is a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Action (MSCA) postdoctoral fellow in the ImπACT Fellowship Programme at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel-Belgium. He obtained his Doctor of Philosophy (2021) in Environmental Toxicology from the University of Lagos, Nigeria, under the ECOWAS-Nnamdi Azikiwe Academic Mobility Scheme (ENAAMS) graduate scholarship. Dr. Eze received his Master of Science in Environmental Toxicology (2013) from the University of Nigeria Nsukka, and his Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry (2009) from Ebonyi State University, Nigeria. His research experience focuses strongly on the application of high-resolution fluorescence microscopy, spectrometry, chromatography, and a battery of cell-based bioassays to identify environmental contaminants, investigate exposure to environmental chemicals, identify representative biomarkers, and characterize possible health effects. He worked as a lecturer at the Federal University Oye-Ekiti, Nigeria (2011–2023) and has been a visiting research scholar at the University of Chester, United Kingdom; the University of Bergen, Norway; the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, Trondheim; the University of Wurzburg, Germany; Trinity College Dublin; the Helmholtz-Centre for Environmental Research, Leipzig, Germany; and the University of Helsinki, Finland. Currently, his research at Vrije Universiteit Brussel is focused on exploring exposure to real-life e-waste chemical mixtures in a cutting-edge human liver-based and mechanistically anchored (AOPs) in vitro test system, evaluating steatosis and cholestasis, the two most prevalent types of liver toxic effects, under the supervision of Prof. Mathieu Vinken.
