After months of onboarding procedures, the imπACT Management Team was excited to meet the new fellows who have come from all over the world to work at VUB. Currently, the group includes 4 female researchers and 5 male researchers from Turkey (1), Italy (1), India (2), UK (1), Nigeria (1), The Netherlands (1), Ghana (1), and Mauritius (1). Two more researchers (respectively from Kenya and Iran) will start their fellowships in the coming months.
During the welcome breakfast, the fellows, their supervisors, the imπACT Management Team, and colleagues from the TechTransfer office were present. Everyone got to know each other in an informal way, before the official kick-off meeting of the project, which will take place in September. After a welcome speech of the Management Team, each of the fellows introduced themselves and their projects, already showcasing the innovativeness and ambition of their topics. The fellows also shared their diverse life stories who brought them to Belgium.
The atmosphere at the event was friendly and relaxed, and the fellows bonded over croissants and coffees! The imπACT Management Team hopes that this event will contribute to strengthen the cohesion of the group and will facilitate the integration of the fellows into their new work environment.
