5th IMPACT training week

February 17, 2026

From 2nd to 6th February, we had the 5th (and last) of our IMPACT training weeks!

On Monday the fellows presented their progress reports and their plans for future, including publications, conferences, and job applications. As always, each fellow answered questions from their colleagues and from the IMPACT Management Team.

On Tuesday, Adrian Langan came all the way from Dublin to teach the fellows trips and tricks for communicating effectively to funders, policy-makers, citizens, and other stakeholders. Adrian combined theoretical insights with very hands-on exercises.

Britt Luyten’s training on Wednesday guided the fellows in translating academic and research strengths into industry-relevant skills, including stakeholder communication, project management, cross-functional collaboration, and problem-solving design. The fellows learnt how to position themselves for industry roles and how to communicate their value beyond academia. The skills gained will help them thrive on the job market.

On Thursday we crunched numbers with Thomas Crispeels, who delivered training on finance theory and helped the fellows with their business models. In the afternoon, the fellows worked intensively on updating their pitches for the final panel.

Finally, Friday ended with very interacting training from Linda Myncke. The fellows discovered the colour of their communication style, learned techniques to adjust their communications to the audience, and even practiced their presentation with Virtual Reality.

We hope that all the transversal skills learnt in the past 2 years will help the fellows succeed in all their career and personal challenges!
