- What challenges did you encounter in the course of your 2-year MSCA fellowship?
Adapting to the Higher Education context of Belgium was initially a challenge. Corresponding to the project’s diverse outcomes (i.e. research, impact, dissemination, training) and strict timeframe has also been at times challenging to balance and coordinate. However, with the right focus and the appropriate support from the IMPACT program Management team I have been able to overcome any difficulties and fulfil all the objectives and expected outcomes of my project.
- What were the most rewarding aspects of being a MSCA fellow in this IMPACT program?
Being funded and trained to complete a research project in a domain of significant personal interest has been fulfilling and rewarding. It enabled me to further develop and improve as a researcher. Interacting with other Impact program Postdoctoral Research Fellows, who are leading scientists in their domains, has been significantly rewarding and inspirational. Being also at VUB a leading University in Brussels and Belgium has opened many opportunities for me in research and beyond.
- In what way did the MSCA program (including the pitch of your business case) has helped or will help you in mapping out your next career path?
Conducting primary research in sustainable entrepreneurship and innovation has helped me discover areas and ideas for future and further research. Moreover, training around an Impact case as part of the Impact program, enabled me to see the outreach of my work and career in wider spectrum, even beyond academia. I feel that the two year program has been an excellent process to map out and prepare for my next career path.
