- What challenges did you encounter in the course of your 2-year MSCA fellowship?
The primary challenges I faced during my MSCA fellowship revolved around the interdisciplinary nature of my research. Bridging the gap between philosophy, technology, and policy was initially daunting. However, these challenges were mitigated by the exceptional support from the tech transfer team, whose expertise and guidance were invaluable. Additionally, adjusting to life in Brussels was a challenge at first, but the city’s vibrant culture and welcoming atmosphere quickly made it feel like home.
- What were the most rewarding aspects of being a MSCA fellow in this IMPACT program?
The most rewarding aspect of being an MSCA fellow in the IMPACT program was the opportunity to meet such a diverse group of researchers and professionals. The training sessions were particularly enriching, offering insights into areas beyond my primary field of study. These sessions, coupled with the collaborative environment, greatly enhanced my research and broadened my perspective. Another rewarding aspect was living in Brussels. This city, with its rich history, diverse culture, and central role in European policy, provided an ideal backdrop for my research on internet governance and policy.
- In what way did the MSCA program (including the pitch of your business case) has helped or will help you in mapping out your next career path?
The MSCA program, especially the business case pitch, was instrumental in shaping my career trajectory. It provided me with the skills and confidence to effectively communicate complex ideas to a non-specialist audience, an essential ability in the field of policy and academia. The program’s emphasis on tech transfer and practical application of research in real-world scenarios has opened up new career possibilities for me, particularly in the realm of technology policy and ethics. The interdisciplinary approach of the IMPACT program has equipped me with a unique skill set that is highly valuable in today’s interconnected and digital world.
