1. What challenges did you encounter in the course of your 2-year MSCA fellowship?
My main challenge has been finding the next step in my career path. This is not related to the MSCA fellowship itself, but to personal aspirations and the point in which I am in my career – this is my third postdoc position.
2. What were the most rewarding aspects of being a MSCA fellow in this IMPACT program?
The MSCA fellowship is of course very prestigious, so it is rewarding to be part of a cohort of fellows. The exciting discussions and exchanges with other postdocs and some of the speakers during the training weeks were also enriching experiences.
3. In what way did the MSCA program (including the pitch of your business case) has helped or will help you in mapping out your next career path?
The MSCA IMPACT program changed my career plans in a very profound way. It opened my eyes and made me consider career paths different from the traditional tenure-track academic position. The program allowed me to reflect on my abilities and interests, which I realized don’t have to be restricted to a strict academic position. As I was put in contact with people from a multitude of backgrounds during the training events, I concluded and felt motivated to continue acting on my non-academic interests that are related to people engagement towards a greener future. Indeed, I am actively pursuing different science-related positions and have even already interviewed with a few places.
