BIO

Dr Anubhav Bussooa is a post-doctoral scientist working in the µFlow Cell group at VUB. He graduated with a BSc in Medical Sciences at the University of Mauritius (2013) and a MSc in Biomedical Engineering at Cranfield University (2014). In 2015 he started a PhD in Biomedical Engineering / Cardiovascular Sciences at the University of Glasgow. His PhD research focussed on the development of a cell sensing and electrotherapeutic system for a novel smart coronary stent, in the context of the VascuSenS project. After being awarded his PhD in 2020, he joined CEA Grenoble as a post-doctoral researcher for 2 years, working on a Pancreas-on-Chip project. His research focussed on the microfluidic design of the chip and integration of impedance & oxygen sensors. In 2023 he joined µFlow Cell and was involved in the development of novel microwell plates for 3D culturing of bioprinted tissues within the International Space Station. Currently, he is an imπACT postdoc at VUB working on the MICROFUSE project. This project aims to develop a microfluidic platform to gain further insight into nutrient and oxygen transport limitations in 2D and 3D cell cultures.
